The Reverend Tom M. Castlen is the principal consultant for Pathfinders: Church Consulting.
Tom's primary interest is "making the church be the Church." His focus is working with congregations on renewal, redevelopment, and transformation ministries as a congregation seeks to faithfully follow Jesus Christ in changing times.
Tom has over forty years of experience in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as a pastor, teacher, governing staff person, consultant, trainer and coach. His ministry has taken him across the United States, ministering in the Midwest, the South, the Pacific Northwest, and the Northeast. He has served small and large congregations. He has been an Executive Presbyter and a program staff person for middle governing bodies in planning, strategy, evangelism, outreach, stewardship and multi cultural ministries in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) where he is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament. He is a recognized ecumenical leader. He has served on college and seminary faculties.
Tom's consulting background includes training as a community organizer by Saul Alinsky, a principal trainer in the Action Training Network, participation in Lippett Associates, and as an early member of the Congregational Studies movement, and the recent Gospel and Culture Network.
He has created and written resource materials for congregational transformation, team building, and leadership development.
